Description

The Work to be done under this Contract, located within the City and County of San Francisco, is to upgrade the electrical infrastructure at the King substation.

The work includes, but is not limited to, the work detailed in the Plans and Specifications and generally as follows:
A. Demolition, site preparation and building renovation work at King Substation to include removal of existing substation equipment; preparation for and installation of new elastomeric roofing over existing metal roofing panels; removal of existing slab; removal of existing bathroom; preparation for and installation of exterior roof drain.
B. Replacement of traction power and auxiliary equipment with new equipment in King Substation to include furnishing and installing AC & DC Switchgear, Rectifier-Transformer Assembly, and related equipment to include Breaker Test Stations, 12kV Utility Metering Cubicle Auxiliary, Annunciator, and Supervisory (RTU) Panels, 125-volt DC Station Battery System, Fire Alarm and Security Systems, AC & DC Panel Boards Automatic Transfer Switch, Raceway and Wiring System, Insulating floor material, SCADA System, Traction power feeder cables.
C. Furnishing and installing a HVAC system at King Substation to include fans & dampers, thermostats, control panel, and conduit & wiring.
D. Furnishing and installing a Fire Suppression system at King Substation to include new tanks, strobes, alarms, pull station, control panel, and conduit & wiring.
E. Furnishing a new restroom to be ADA compliant.
F. Providing new/relocated underground infrastructure for various electrical, communication, domestic water and sewer system.
G. Replacement of pavement including excavating, removing and disposing of existing pavement, concrete base, parking strip, curb and sidewalk; Constructing 4-inch thick asphalt concrete wearing surface over 6-inch thick aggregate base class II, and 6-inch thick Contract No. 1304 1.3 concrete sidewalk; Adjusting City-owned casting, manhole frames, covers, catch basin frames and grating to grade.
H. Providing a new roof.
I. Furnishing and installing a new 4-inch diameter cast iron pipe, traffic routing, trenching, construct clean out assembly for building sewer, pre-construction and post-construction television investigation of existing 4-inch diameter CIP building sewer and abandoning/removing existing sewers/drainage facilities and structures; Pressure testing newly constructed building sewers. The above description of the Work is a general summary only and does not modify the requirements set out in the Specifications, Drawings or other Contract Documents.

Thompson Builders Corporation, an Equal Opportunity Employer, as a "General Contractor" is requesting bids from LBE Subcontractors, Suppliers and Truckers for the project known as: MUNI METRO SYSTEM KING SUBSTATION UPGRADE - SFMTA (Contract #1304) located in San Francisco, CA. BIDS ARE DUE NO LATER THAN MARCH 7, 2018, AT 3PM.

*No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a bid proposal for a public works project (submitted on or after March 1, 2015) unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)] *No contractor or subcontractor may be awarded a contract for public work on a public works project (awarded on or after April 1, 2015) unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5. *This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations.

Thompson Builders Corporation is signatory to both the Carpenters Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Laborers Collective Bargaining Agreement. Certification of insurance for General Liability and Workers’ Compensation are required. A Waiver of Subrogation will also be required with all Subcontract Agreements. Subcontractors’ faithful performance and payment bonds in the amount of the subcontract price may be required. Reasonable market rate bond premium will be reimbursed by Thompson Builders Corporation.

TBC is willing to discuss breaking down bid items into economically feasible units for minority participation. Their estimating department is available for assistance with bonding, lines of credit, insurance, equipment, supplies and/or materials.
