TitleBRIDGEHEAD PIPELINE REPLACEMENT PROJECT
Bid Date08/05/2021
Description

The primary objective of this Project is to replace a leaking 18” ductile iron pipe located on the north side of the Wilbur Avenue Bridge, which is located above two BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) railroad tracks. There is a temporary HDPE pipeline located primarily above grade on the north side of the westbound lane of the bridge which must remain in service during construction.

The Project includes the following:
- Removal of approximately 590 linear feet of 18” ductile iron pipe above and below grade, removal of approximately 15 feet of 28” HDPE pipe below grade, removal of a shallow manhole, and removal of an approximately 13-foot deep manhole within Wilbur Avenue, west of the bridge. Approximately 500 linear feet of the ductile iron pipe is supported under the north edge of the Wilbur Avenue Bridge which crosses over two BNSF railroad tracks below.
- Installation of approximately 590 linear feet of new 24” restrained joint ductile iron pipe and 15 linear feet of steel pipe following approximately the same alignment of the existing removed pipe. The new pipeline will connect to the existing underground 28” HDPE pipe at a location approximately 25 feet east of the bridge. The pipeline will terminate at a new manhole located approximately 85 feet west of the end of the bridge where the existing manhole is replaced.
- Installation of above grade combination air valve and enclosure on east end of bridge.
- Work requires the contractor to coordinate with and obtain approvals from BNSF in order to work within BNSF Right of Way. The Contractor must become familiar with all aspects of working within BNSF Right of Way prior to bidding including, but not limited to, work disruptions due to train crossings, flagging requirements, insurance requirements, BNSF Safety training and eRail Safe Certifications, BNSF required submittals and approvals including a scaffolding plan and a lift plan for any lifting or boomed equipment used within BNSF Right of Way and all other BNSF contractor requirements, including, but not limited to, those included in Appendix D. The effort and associated costs related to working with BNSF Right of Way shall all be accounted for in the bid.
