The Work under this Contract is to construct capital improvements along the L Taraval corridor between SF Zoo and Sunset Boulevard. The Work, as detailed in the Plans and Specifications, consists generally of the following:
1. Perform selective demolition of existing facilities.
2. Replace existing curved and tangent paved embedded tie and ballast tracks along the L Taraval Line from La Playa and Taraval Streets to Sunset Boulevard with new direct fixation track and fastening systems.
3. Replace one single crossover on Taraval and 47th Avenue with new direct fixation support system.
4. Restore existing cobble stone adjacent to the portion of track to be replaced between 46th and 48th Avenues.
5. Replace existing track pavement with track concrete pavement within the track right-of-way.
6. Replace Overhead Contact System (OCS) special work, trolley wire, tangent spans, feeder spans, and trolley poles for the L Taraval Line west of Sunset Boulevard.
7. Renovate and reconstruct roadway pavement, parking strips, gutters and curb returns.
8. Renovate existing and construct new boarding islands and high level accessible platforms.
9. Coordinate installation of bus shelters with Next Bus signage.
10. Construct bulb-outs and curb ramps to enhance pedestrian safety and comply with current ADA standards.
11. Protect and prune existing trees and provide landscape planting at boarding islands.
12. Provide trash receptacles and bike racks.
13. Provide roadway lighting by removing and relocating LED luminaires from existing to new combination trolley/streetlight poles and provide some lighting on new streetlight poles.
14. Install new streetlight conduit and pull box system.
15. Provide new 120/240 VAC underground and overhead service connections for new streetlights.
16. Provide new traction power feeder cables and grounding for new trolley poles.
17. Install rapid rectangular flashing beacons.
18. Install traffic signal conduit and pull box system for future signalization.
19. Relocate existing sewer facilities and construct concrete manholes along the new sewer alignment.
20. Repair, replace, or construct 6-inch or 8-inch side sewers and connect to the newly constructed main sewer.
21. Construct new concrete catch basins with VCP culverts to ensure proper overland flow drainage around the new platforms and bulb-outs.
22. Plug and fill to abandon existing sewer.
23. Install new ductile iron water mains with service piping and rehabilitate portion of existing cast iron pipe using cast-in-place-pipe (CIPP) method.
24. Install steel casings for water mains at Muni track crossings.
25. Replace all low pressure fire hydrants and associated fittings and values.
26. Provide excavation and excavation support work for SFWD installation activity and for PG&E hot tapping of deactivated gas mains.

Bids are due no later than January 10, 2019, at 3 PM.
