The Scope of Work (SOW) for the Project consists of the following elements (see attachments):

1. Existing Benches Demo: Provide labor and materials to remove and salvage benches with donor plaques. Deliver benches to Golden Gate Park, as directed by the City. Retain donor plaques for reinstallation under this contract (see base bid item #6 below). Where applicable, remove and off-haul from site concrete foundations and slabs. 25 benches total.
2. Clear and Grub: Provide labor and materials to remove and off-haul vegetation and debris. Rip and cultivate to 12” (min.) depth. 21,720 SF total area.
3. Soil Amendment: Order a soils analysis report. Apply soil amendments and fertilizers as required per Specification Section 02940. 20,492 SF total area.
4. Top Soil/Fine Grading: Provide labor and materials to import bio-swale-appropriate topsoil to achieve the desired finish grades for a 20,492 SF area per Specification Section 02940 and the typical swale details of the Drawings.
5. Cobbles at Curb Cuts: Provide labor and materials to saw-cut 12” notches in an existing concrete curb @ 20’ OC. Install 4 SF of stone cobbles, two layers deep, per Detail 5, Sheet L-301. 82 locations total.
6. Benches and Concrete Pad: Remove existing cobble curb; and install new 11’x3’ concrete bench pad with bench and footings @ 100’ OC per Detail 7/Sheet L-202. 16 locations total as directed by City. Eight (8) 8’ long benches and eight (8) 10’ long benches as manufactured by Columbia Cascade, Timberform Greenway Contour, Model #2140-8 and Model #2140-10 respectively, tel: (415) 317-7275. Inset mount the salvaged donor plaques flush with the bench slats per City’s direction.
7. Allowance for Cobble Curb Repair: Provide labor and materials to repair an existing cobble curb on the north side of the new bio-swale. Use cobbles salvaged from
locations where new bench pads are installed. Allow for up to 160 LF total.
8. Rock Pad at Bike Racks: Install a 2” minimum thick, permeable, compacted rock pad with wood headers under existing bike racks. 30 SF area total.
9. Landscaping: Provide materials and labor to install bio-swale-appropriate plants per plant list and details shown on Sheet L-301. Provide materials and labor to apply 2” min. thickness of organic mulch per Specifications Section 02940. 20,492 SF total area.
10. Construction Fencing: Provide materials and labor to install 8’ high, temporary chain link fencing with green windscreen at staging area (24’x30’) and at the rotating work area (475’x24’) by phase. Refer to the attached Phasing Plan.
11. Plant Establishment and Maintenance Period: 14-day plant establishment and maintenance period per Specification Section 02940.
12. Secure each phase of the project site for public safety and from vandalism until acceptance by the City for substantial completion. The City and County of San
Francisco will not be responsible for any costs of repairs incurred due to vandalism or the Contractor’s negligence.
13. Contractor is responsible for the repair or restoration of paving, vegetation and furnishings damaged due to work associated with this scope.
14. Work must commence within 5 calendar days from issuance of Notice to Proceed by the City, prosecuted diligently thereafter, and brought to Substantial Completion within the time limit of 75 consecutive calendar days.
15. A minimum 14-day “Plant Establishment Period” for each phase (except Phase 4) must be completed for Substantial Completion by phase.
16. Final Acceptance shall occur no later than 14 consecutive calendar days after the date of Notice of Substantial Completion for each phase. Applicable only to
Phase 4: The 14-day “Plant Establishment Period” must be completed for Final Acceptance.
17. Warranty for landscaping per Specification Section 02940.
18. (Alternate Bid Item) Flagstone Path: Provide labor and materials to install 30’x3’ flagstone paths, per Detail 6/Sheet L-301 @ 100’ OC, centered between the benches. 13 locations total as directed by City.
19. (Alternate Bid Item) Provide materials and labor to install a fully functioning drip irrigation system with ½”, UV-resistant Polyethylene drip irrigation lines, secured
with 6” soil staples and buried under 2” min. mulch (see base item #9 above). Connect to the existing pop-up irrigation system.
